Dr. is one of the top Bariatric surgeons in the entire Caribbean region and has trained with Dr. Garnier (known as the Father of Sleeve Gastrectomy) at Cornell University in New York. He has performed over 3,500 Bariatric surgeries throughout his career and continues to perform an estimated 300 every year, one of the top doctors in the Caribbean in his field, and in the world. Dr. is the representative for the Costa Rica chapter of the International Federation of Obesity Surgery and is the coordinator of the first Laprascopic Surgery Post Graduate Course offered in Costa Rica. Dr. graduated in 1996 from UACA university as a general practitioner and later went on to continue his studies and graduated in 2004 from the University of Costa Rica as a general surgeon. He has since gone onto earn his Masters of Minimally Invasive Surgery in 2008 and has completed multiple training courses in Bariatric procedures all over the world from New York to Brazil. He is a member of the International College of Surgeons, the College of Physicians and Surgeons, ASMBS, FACS, a member of the Joint Commission International, member and co-founder of metabolic and obesity surgery of Guayaquil society, member and co-founder for robotic surgery of Guayaquil society the founder and president of the training center of Laprascopic surgery and many more. Dr. was born in the United States and speaks fluent English and Spanish.
Dr. is an experienced maxillofacial specialist whom we send our patients to for dental needs. In 2001 she received her degree in dental surgery from Hospital Clinica Santa Catalina and went onto study and practice in Dental Clinics and hospitals all over Costa Rica, including Hospital San Juan De Dios, Hospital Clinica Biblica, Hospital de Carabineros de Chile, Hospital de la Mutual de Seguridad, Hospital Dr. Sotero del Rio, Hospital San Borja Arriaran, Instituto Nacional del Cance and other institutions including private practice. Dr. received an academic achievement award for the third highest GPA at Universidad Latina de Costa Rica as well as a perfect score on her graduation thesis which was an analysis of the degree of utilization of surgical exposure treatment in the traction of permanent retained superior canines by dentists at Universidad Latina de Costa Rica, placing her among the top doctors in the Caribbean. She is an active member of the Costa Rica board of Dental Surgeons, the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, the International Association of of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and Secretary of the Board of the Costa Rican Academy of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. She is fluent in English and Spanish and has multiple specialized courses in Actualization in Maxillofacial Trauma. 220 hours duration and Pain in Maxillofacial Region, Multidisciplinary Focus.
Dr. is a specialist in Dental Restoration, Prosthetics and Dental Aesthetics and is currently the Director of Rehabilitation and Dental Aesthetics at Advanced Dental in Costa Rica. Dr. began his dental studies in San Jose, Costa Rica and after earning his first dental degree went onto complete a 4-year residency in Advanced Prosthodontics and Dental Implants at Loma Linda University in Los Angeles, CA. He is certified in both the United States and Costa Rica as a specialist in aesthetics. Dr. oversees porcelain crowns, dental bridges, implant-supported implants, porcelain veneers, porcelain in-lays and on-lays, hybrid implant prostheses and fixed and removable dentures. Dr. is a member of the American Dental Association, the American College of Prosthodontics, Loma Linda University Alumnus Association and Colegio de Cirujanos Dentistas de Costa Rica.
Dr. specializes in knee, hip and shoulder replacement surgeries. He attended University del Norte, Colombia, S. A. Barranquilla, Col Licensed in Medicine and Surgery from 1984-1991 and continued his studies as the University of Costa Rica from 1992-1996. Among doctors in the Caribbean, he has been recognized by the Costa Rican College of Physicians and Surgeons since November 7, 1997 and is an International Affiliate Member of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons. Dr. has completed multiple internships in the study of Orthopedics and is a University Professor in Health Science (FUCODOCSA).
He has performed over 500 Athroscopic Knee procedures, more than 300 ACL repairs, 450 Knee Replacements and 600 Total Hip Replacements. Dr. is fluent in English, French and Spanish and is board certified.
Cosmetic & Reconstructive Surgery:
Dr. attended the Autonomous University of Central America and University of Costa Rica for his general medicine and surgery degrees and went on to train at Autonomous University of Mexico, Hospital General de Mexico for his speciality in Plastic and Reconstructive surgery. He was certified in 1990 by the Educational Commission of Foreign Medical Graduates, a U.S. based organization, and has been a professor of surgery at Universidad de Ibero América since 1998.
Dr. has completed many additional trainings and seminars including the Plastic Surgery Symposium, American Society of Plastic Surgeons. San Francisco, USA, and the Expositor in IV Central American Congress of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. focussing on Breast Augmentation. Dr. has published multiple publications on Plastic and Reconstructive surgery and is a member of the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, the International Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery and a member of the Costa Rican Association in Plastic, Aesthetic and Reconstructive Surgery; truly one of the most prolific doctors in the Caribbean and in fact, the world.
Vascular Surgery & CCSVI Liberation Therapy:
Dr. has performed over 500 liberation procedures and began studying the procedure once learning about it in 2009 from Dr. Zamboni himself right before it because widely known in 2009. Since then he has attended multiple conferences throughout the world in locations such as Arizona, Boston, Cotland, New Yokr, Leipzig and Frankfurt, with the goal of increasing his knowledge of the subject and sharing his experience with fellow specialists and doctors in the Caribbean.
Dr. received his doctorate in Medical Sciences from Autonomous University of the Central American Medical Sciences in 1998 and has completed a number of speciality training courses including Specialty in Peripheral Vascular Surgery from the University of Costa Rica, a Mini-Fellowship in Endovascular Surgery, Training in the Use of Endovenous Lasers, as well as specialty training courses at Las Lomas Hospital in Mexico and Nuremberg Germany.
Dr. is a member of the International Society of Vascular Surgery, the American College of Phlebology, and the International Society of Endovascular Specialists.
Prosthodontist Clinical Director:
Dr. a dentist who specializes in cosmetic restoration and replacement of teeth, began his studies in 1996 at the University of San Jose in Costa Rica in Dental Medicine. He completed his program in 1999 graduating at the top of his class before continuing on to a graduate program at Boston University in Massachusetts for Prosthodontics. After completing his graduate studies in 2003 he worked as a Clinical Restorative Dentist at the Dental Health Center in Boston until May of 2004. That same year he began teaching in Boston University’s Goldman School of Medicine’s pre-doctoral program as a clinical instructor for the department of general dentistry. In September of 2004 Dr. returned to Costa Rica where he began his private practice in San Jose and in 2005 became a clinical instructor at the department of Prosthodontics for the pre-doctoral program of ULACIT School of Health Sciences. Dr. is a member of the American College of Prosthodontics, the Costa Rican Prosthodontics Association, the National Dentist Association of Costa Rica and the Associate Fellowship World Clinical Laser Institute. Dr. is fluent in French, English and Spanish.
